Mercaz Noam – “Noam Centre” – is the year-round vibrant and thriving Noam community hub where chanichim progress to the next stage of their Noam journey!
Meltam and Masa make up our two-year leadership training course for years 11 and 12 which provides the opportunity to get equipped with all the skills needed to become a madrich/a/ol (leader). Noam has been running this programme for over 15 years, creating young, capable, inspiring leaders for generations in our community. Join us at Woodhouse College on Sunday afternoons during term time for engaging, informative, and fun sessions to start your leadership journey – see times below for different programmes.
Meltam focuses on the basics of hadracha and building an understanding Noam’s ideology and working together to take action and run projects around it. Through this process you will learn invaluable leadership and teamwork skills and a deeper understanding of what it means to be a part of Noam. Meltam occurs weekly.
Masa is the second year of our leadership programme. In preparation for leading Camp in the summer of 2024, this course focuses on the practical leadership skills needed, such as how to educate young people, how to deal with challenging behaviour and how to care for young people. This is also complimented by the 20 hours of volunteering each participant will do throughout the year at different Noam events (Winter Camp, Club, Kaytana) where they can put all they’ve learnt into practice. Please note that participants must attend 80% of sessions or arrange catch up sessions in order to lead on summer camp.
Beit Midrash is our text study track for those in Year 12 and 13. It’s an exciting opportunity to take a more in depth look at Talmud and Jewish learning with a Masorti rabbi. This is an introduction into ‘chevruta’ (pair learning) for both beginners and those with more text study experience allowing them to engage in Jewish study!
We are able to reimburse participants £10 per session they attend for their time. Places are limited so will be assigned on a first come first serve basis
Mercaz Noam runs on Sunday afternoons during term time from November 12th to March 24th
Meltam and Masa are complimented by 20 hours of volunteering each participant will do throughout the year at different Noam events, both residential (Winter Camp and Shabbatonim) and non-residential (Club, Kaytana, and programming in Masorti communities), where they can put all they have learnt into practice.
